Learn about our coconut oil based detergent and why it's better for you, your clothes, and the environment!

How much should I use? Less is more.

Plant-based detergent has more concentrated cleaning power, so you can use less in each wash and still reap the benefits. Our concentrated plant-based detergent dissolves quicker in the wash cycle without requiring excessive foaming action.

What's in it & How is it made? See Below.

Ingredients

Pine + Wintergreen Detergent: Saponified Coconut Oil, Citric Acid, Washing soda (Sodium Bicarbonate), Wintergreen Essential Oil, Pine Fragrance Oil.

  • Coconut Oil: Cleansing/antibacterial/antifungal properties which aids in stain removal.

  • Superfat Free: This prevents the likelihood of stain accumulation.

  • Sodium Bicarbonate: Detergent works more effectively & reduces bacteria. It can also neutralize odors by balancing pH levels and soften wash water so you can use less detergent and have it be more effective.

  • Citric AcidA natural compound found in citrus fruits, it stabilizes the soap in hard water, preventing soap scum and ensuring a cleaner wash.

  • Essential Oils & Fragrance Oils: These oils provide a pleasant, long-lasting scent to your laundry with high-quality, skin-safe ingredients.

Our Detergent is made by  SWASTI Ayurveda , which is a daughter company of  Wanamandawe Ayurveda, a renowned Ayurveda product Manufactory of Sri Lanka. SWASTI Ayurveda was created by Anu Somaratne, an artist, self-taught soap-maker, & Ayurveda medical student.

Step 1: Ingredients are added to form the batter

Step 2: Batter is poured into the mould and left aside to set

Step 3: The hardened soap is removed from the mould & grated

Step 4: Grated laundry soap is mixed with sodium bicarbonate powder to create the final product

How does it compare to regular detergents? See Below.

What's wrong with regular detergents?

  • Often made using synthetic cleaning agents and phosphates that may be toxic to the environment when they get into the soil and water supply. This would potentially pollute the earth, poison fish and disrupt the ecosystem.
  • Fragrances added are often artificial & overpowering which can sometimes trigger allergies.
  • Not Gentle/Mild on skin - not great for people with sensitive skin.
  • Most regular laundry detergents are packaged in non-reusable plastic
  • Not economical: You use up more detergent per load than you would with our concentrated plant-based detergent.

What sets the ging-home laundry detergent apart?

  • All ingredients are biodegradable.
  • Our detergent is coconut oil based but does not include superfats. This prevents the likelihood of stain accumulation.
  • Coconut oil is naturally the most  cleansing  oil, and when paired with sodium bicarbonate, detergent works more effectively &  reduces bacteria  & is great for those with sensitive skin.
  • NO added colors  & all fragrances are derived from  essential oils and fragrance oils , which are extractions from different parts of a plant, such as flowers, herbs, or roots.
  • Our detergent dissolves easily in the washing machine &  doesn’t clump up  and/or attach to clothes being washed.
  • Sustainable,  Reusable Packaging  promoting waste-free living.
